Hello there. I'm Khoi Tran, a software developer who enjoys building full-stack applications and AI-powered applications.
My goal is to develop as an engineer and build projects that make a difference in the world.
About me
Since childhood, I have always been passionate about computers and cutting-edge technology. This passion later fueled my decision to pursue a degree in Computer Science in the United States, craving more opportunities to witness the birth of the latest technologies and to participate as one of its creators or contributors.
I have 4 years of experience building software, and I am fluent and familiar with React, Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, Laravel, and MySQL. Python, Java, and C++ round out my toolkit, along with growing experience in RAG pipelines and AI-powered applications. Currently, I work as a Software Developer / Student Research Assistant at the CSU Office of the Chancellor while pursuing my Master's in Computer Science at Cal Poly Pomona.
In my free time, I enjoy hobbies like video games, anime, and golf. Discovering new things is how I stay entertained. Food, stories, culture, and the new pieces of technology are parts of my interest. Cars and motorcycles, too.

A computer vision pipeline that detects fairy circles in satellite imagery using a CNN classifier, sliding window detection, and Hough Circle Transform. Achieved 95.9% validation accuracy on 15,032 aerial images.

I graduated from Hoang Hoa Tham High School in Vietnam and decided to pursue my dream of being involved in the tech field.
2018Attended Orange Coast College

I came to the United States as an international student and started exploring many fields in Computer Science. I graduated with an Associate Degree in Computer Science and transferred to Cal Poly Pomona to pursue a bachelor's degree.
2019 - 2022Interned at FPT Online
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
I worked as a volunteer intern at FPT Online for 2 months. I was assigned to work on projects that involved REST APIs, Google Cloud Platform, and ChatGPT API specifically. I also had a chance to work with a team of 4 people to build automations and programs that contributed greatly to the company's workload and environment.

I attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona as a Computer Science undergraduate and graduated in December 2024. Here, I had many opportunities and projects to expand my knowledge and experience in full-stack programming.

I work on a production Laravel/PHP application for the CSU Student Success Dashboard, partnering with UX/UI, Data, and QA teams to ship scalable features. I also built a RAG-based AI search pipeline to help users find relevant dashboard content.
